<div id="attachment_1902" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 579px"><img src="http://elephantbrandskateboards.com/home/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/IMG_2032-569x569.jpg" alt="" title="Rogue Sketch" width="569" height="569" class="size-large wp-image-1902" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Early Rogue sketch.</p></div>
<p>The Rogue was the first graphic idea I had for Elephant Brand Skateboards and it was brought to life by <a href="http://elephantbrandskateboards.com/home/artist-profile-tim-clark/" target="_blank">Tim Clark</a>. The graphic sums up my 25 years of professional skateboarding &#8212; eking out a living under the big top, in chains &#8212; And where I am now with the launch of Elephant Brand Skateboards &#8212; Free.</p>
<p><img src="http://elephantbrandskateboards.com/home/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/IMG_2880-569x761.jpg" alt="" title="Rogue / Berlin Wall" width="569" height="761" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-1909" /></p>
<p>The Rogue is available on two different shapes. The first shape, the &#8220;OG&#8221; shape, is the first board that I ever shaped back in 1987 and what would eventually become my first pro-model board from Powell-Peralta in 1988. I arrived at this shape by combining a Neil Blender nose and a Natas Kaupas tail. The &#8220;money bumps&#8221; just happened&#8230; I thought they looked cool &#8212; That&#8217;s it, nothing more to it. The Elephant Brand version of this shape however is built on a modern mold which makes it far more rideable and familiar to today&#8217;s skaters.</p>
<p>The second shape is a straight up rip-off of a modern day Black Label Grosso shape. It&#8217;s another one of those shapes that I consider a hybrid &#8212; A popsicle-esque board with some shape to it. </p>
<div id="attachment_1921" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 579px"><img src="http://elephantbrandskateboards.com/home/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/IMG_3362-569x320.jpg" alt="" title="Backside Layback" width="569" height="320" class="size-large wp-image-1921" /><p class="wp-caption-text">Backside Layback Tailslide in Malmö, Sweden.</p></div>
<p>I skated both The Rogue OG and The Rogue Street / Pool board in the <a href="http://youtu.be/7L5QITuB-IU" target="_blank">I Will Not Be Broken video</a>.</p>
<p><iframe width="569" height="319" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7L5QITuB-IU?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>On the OG board I had Indy 169&#8242;s, Divine 64mm City Slasher wheels with 1/2&#8243; riser pads. On the street / pool shape I rode Indy 149&#8242;s, 58mm Spitfire Wheels with 1/8&#8243; riser pads.</p>
<p><img src="http://elephantbrandskateboards.com/home/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/IMG_2881-569x569.jpg" alt="" title="Berlin Wall" width="569" height="569" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-1933" /></p>
<p><a href="http://youtu.be/AHI0dOvvC0M" target="_blank">The Rogue board video </a>was filmed at <a href="http://skatelab.com/" target="_blank">Skatelab</a> in Simi Valley, CA which is an amazing skatepark and skateboard museum. It seemed fitting to film the video amongst so much skateboard history as The Rogue represents a real evolutionary moment in my life and career.</p>

The wordmark is part comic book and part mid-80&#39;s Powell-Peralta inspired -- Two things that played a heavy role in my early identity.</p></div>
<p><a href="http://www.blackirishpress.com/" target="_blank">Tim</a> was handed the job of graphically creating the brand in early October 2011 with the pressure of having to have a finished line to show in January 2012. We worked closely on my ideas for graphics but it was really Tim&#8217;s deeper understanding of my ideas and the inspirations behind them that allowed him to transform my thoughts and feelings into graphics&#8230; Giving a visual life to Elephant.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.blackirishpress.com/" target="_blank">Tim</a> grew up in Southern California and cut his eye-teeth on comic books, skate, surf, tattoos and custom art culture.
